When the Dot NET generic top-level domain extension was initially introduced in 1985, along with the first domain name extensions on the web, it was planned to be used by Internet Service Providers or infrastructure establishments. Taking into account that there were no particular prerequisites about the usage of the TLD, though, .NET domains were registered and used for diverse purposes and by lots of people. This TLD represents a wonderful substitute of .COM, notably if the desirable domain with the latter extension is not available for registration.
