Transferring an already registered domain involves changing the registrar that handles the domain name registration service, so after the transfer itself, you’ll have to manage things like renewal fees or DNS updates through the new registrar company. The transfer process itself is standard with most domain extensions. Certain country-code extensions are more specific and involve different procedures, but in the general case transferring a domain involves a few basic procedures and one of them is unlocking the domain. The lock is a safety feature, which is being adopted by more and more domain name registry operators. It’s a default feature supported by all generic TLDs. If a domain is locked, it won’t be possible to start a transfer process, so nobody can even try to take your domain name. The lock can be annulled only through the account where the domain is registered and all new domain names that support this feature are locked by default when they are registered.

Registrar Lock in Cloud Hosting

If you get a cloud hosting from our company, you’ll be able to manage all domains registered through us via our Hepsia hosting Control Panel and you’ll be able to unlock any of them with just several mouse clicks. All registrations will be listed alphabetically in the Domain Manager section of the hosting Control Panel and for each one of them you’ll notice a mini padlock logo. Clicking on it will show you the present security lock status. If the domain name is locked and you want to transfer it, you’ll just have to click once again and you’ll be all set. Locking a domain name is just as easy and since the domains are administered in the exact same place as the web hosting account itself, you won’t need to sign in and out of different admin dashboards.

Registrar Lock in Semi-dedicated Servers

If you have registered a domain name through our company and you want to transfer it, you can quickly unlock it via the same Hepsia Control Panel, which you use to manage your semi-dedicated server account. All domain registrations will be listed alphabetically in your account and you will notice a small padlock icon next to each domain there, as long as its generic or country-code extension supports the registrar lock option. You can see whether the domain name is locked or not by clicking on this icon and update the current status by clicking on it once more. You can then proceed and initiate the domain transfer process right away without waiting for the status to be changed on WHOIS lookup sites, as the update will propagate instantly without you or us having to do anything else.
